What is 5G Technology? Difference between 4g and 5g | 5g mean for WiFi

What is 5G: We all love to get great speed internet, and this requires telecom companies to work on technology to further increase internet speed. The Internet has become a necessity in everything from smartphones to cars, smartwatches, homes, etc. and of course these are consuming more bandwidth.

So 5G has come up with some awesome technology to enrich the wireless internet and make it more useful to use more bandwidth at the same time. But being a tech person, you need to know – what’s new in this technology? How different is it from 3G or 4G? Or just another marketing term for mobile operators?

What is 5G?

“G” here literally means “Generation”, and wireless companies started their journey from 1G as such. Then came 2G where for the first time it was possible to send text messages between two mobile devices. Then came 3G, which made it easier to browse text messages, calls, internet, etc. a little differently than before.

What is 5G

4G has all the advantages of 3G, only the speed has been increased so that it is easy to share any large size file and connect many devices at once. Then came LTE technology to make 4G faster, which made 4G technology even richer. Read this post to know more about 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G!

Where the question of connecting more devices together is coming up and where the need is growing to use more bandwidth, there is definitely a need for a technology that has the ability to control more bandwidth. And you can say that the journey of 5G technology started by focusing on this subject.

With the current 4G technology, the bandwidth speed of 5G is several times higher. Normally this technology can get 1-10 + gigabit / second speed and the most interesting thing is that it will have a latency of only 1 millisecond. So you can understand how using 5G technology can dramatically increase internet speed! Using this technology it will be possible to easily download or upload 4K videos and groundbreaking changes are coming for those who are gamers.

Another great feature of 5G technology is that it will work with 90% less energy consumption. Those who use cellular internet in 3G or 4G know for sure how fast the charge runs out when the internet is connected. But that won’t be the case with 5G, using this technology can cost a lot more than using WiFi.

With 5G technology providing the ability to use a huge amount of bandwidth — now how much mobile operators will give us will depend on them. And since the question of bandwidth comes in 5G, now it is expected that mobile internet companies will no longer think of selling 1 GB for 200-300 taka, they will have to reduce the price of bandwidth, moreover, how will the public spend so much bandwidth? And if we are really lucky enough to see a truly unlimited plan on the mobile internet after the arrival of 5G and yes of course with the exception of the fair use policy.

How does 5G Technology work?

When you call or message someone using your cellphone, an electromagnetic wave from your cell phone strikes your nearest cellphone tower. The cellphone tower helps transmit that signal to your friend’s phone. Not just calls or text messages, but when you send or receive any other data (eg photos, videos) it works in exactly the same way.

Higher radio frequencies are usually used to handle a new wireless technology properly. Currently, radio frequencies up to 20 MHz are used to operate 4G technology. But with 5G, the work can be done by increasing the radio frequency up to 6 GHz. The reason why new wireless technology has always used more radio frequencies is that it provides the ability to transfer more bandwidth.

5g

But the problem is that increasing the radio frequency increases the bandwidth speed but at the same time decreases the range of the radio signal. This is done by using many input and output antennas to boost the signal.

Not only high bandwidth, this technology is also specially designed to keep many devices connected together. Think of the Internet of Things where every electronics device or electrical device in your home will be connected to each other. 5G technology like 3G or 4G is not limited to cell phones.

Your virtual reality headset can also be fitted with a 5G chip and your computer will also have a chip so the two devices can easily connect to each other using the same technology. 5G technology can be used not only on phone and cellphone networks but also on any device like WiFi to connect the two devices.

When will 5G arrive?

No wonder technology because this technology has already come to us and this service has been launched for testing in some parts of the United States. This week, Verizon, a major mobile operator called 5GK, announced trial services in some US states, including Texas, Oregon, and New Jersey. Moreover, another mobile operator called AT&T is thinking of running tests in their own labs before offering 5G as a trial.

Even though these two huge internet companies and mobile operators of the nation are already thinking of launching 5G service, it would not be right for us to expect it this morning. However, according to most experts, this technology will not be available worldwide before 2020. Hopefully, by 2020-2030, many operators in many countries will work on this new technology.

Robi has already conducted a 5G test in our country and has been successful. According to reports from various news outlets in the country, 5G technology may be introduced in Bangladesh between 2020-21. Many operators may have already started work.

The future of this super-fast 5th Generation network?

There is no doubt that this technology will build a secure future for mobile internet technology. Due to the ability to handle high bandwidth, this technology may take its place not only on the mobile Internet but also on the home Internet.

Any high-end work will be possible from the mobile internet. Think of rural areas that are deprived of access to high-speed internet because internet companies are not able to provide broadband cable, or fiber optic cable in rural areas at a cost of crores of rupees. With the advent of 5G technology, Grameen people will also be able to use gigabit / second internet and Internet operators will no longer need to expand it.

5g technology

Mobile Internet latency on the other hand is very poor — there with 1-millisecond latency this technology can be popular for gamers. If you are gaming online, you must understand the meaning of latency. Moreover, when one device is connected to another, latency can play a much bigger role at times.

For example, in the case of self-driving cars, where one self-driving car needs to be connected to another, the latency of more than a few milliseconds can prove fatal. 5G technology can help each device make a more perfect connection between themselves.

This technology will be able to hold more power due to the use of much less energy. Not just phones, but all devices that you want to connect to the Internet will be charged last. Moreover, this high-speed network technology will make your life easier. Just connect a 5G modem to your computer or router and enjoy gigabit / second internet. Even now Qualcomm and Intel have started making chips to make 5G modems.

Moreover, since this technology can be with any device, not just phones and cell towers, it may be possible to sync data to your phone, tablet, TV by transmitting data from a 5G chip on your computer. Again, you can run multiple TVs simultaneously with a gaming console in a smooth way.

Last word

As you can imagine, the future prospects for this technology are far from over. Where 100 gigabit / second speeds can be found in wireless technology, the cable connection may one day be completely replaced. Maybe after a few years almost every one of your phones will have 5G service and maybe your home fridge will also be connected to the internet using this technology.

Maybe terms like Smart Road or Smart City can come before us. So in a word 5G technology will give us the advantage of wireless low latency with more bandwidth and keeping many devices connected simultaneously.
